Director makes time for marathon

DATUK Vincent Tiew believes in leading by example.

Despite his hectic schedule, Tiew, the sales and marketing director of Andaman Property Management, has decided to take part in the PJ Half Marathon at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya on Oct 30.

The 36-year-old Tiew is also encouraging his colleagues to participate in the PJ Half Marathon.

“About 30 of our employees will be running in the PJ Half Marathon. We are not expecting them to line up for the full 21km, just the 10km. They should be ready for the event as we have initiated a series of training sessions.

“We encourage our employees to be involved in healthy activities and running is one of the best forms of exercise,” said Tiew after a training session at the Subang Ria Park recently.

Andaman Property Management, as one of the main sponsors of the PJ Half Marathon, is fully backing the event’s vision — “Run for a Greener PJ” — and has pledged RM5 for each participant

Tiew said they are committed towards contributing to the environment in PJ.

“We have several completed and ongoing projects in PJ. We also share the PJ Half Marathon’s mission and vision,” he added.

Tiew, after leading his colleagues in a warm-up session, went for a 20 minute jog around the lake.

“The employees have shown a keen interest in taking part in the PJ Half Marathon. We are, however, not expecting them to win medals, but complete the run. That will be an achievement in itself,” said Tiew.

Nur Farisya Abdul Shukor, the company’s corporate communications assistant manager, said she was looking forward to the event.
