SEVENTY-five Caltex customers recently drove away with their dream prizes from the first monthly Caltex 75 SurPRIZES contest series.

“I was planning to give my wife of 39 years a surprise and the Tissot couple watch set is a wonderful treat to cherish together,” said 69-year-old Choong Loo Kong from Kuala Lumpur at the prize-giving ceremony.

The watches were among the 75 prizes offered monthly, in addition to more than 180,000 daily prizes to be given away at all participating Caltex stations.

The Caltex 75 SurPRIZES contest ran from Aug 18 to Oct 31 in conjunction with Caltex’s 75th anniversary celebrations, offering daily and monthly prizes with a grand finale in November, presenting a lucky winner the chance to become a millionaire.

In the monthly contest which ended recently, customers were required to spend a minimum of RM40 at participating Caltex stations or purchase a 4-liter pack of Havoline lubricants at participating Caltex workshops, and send an SMS with a Caltex-related answer along with their personal and transactions details to 33396.

Selected winners had to produce original receipts as proof of purchase to claim their prizes.

“I didn’t expect to win when I submitted the SMS, so I was stunned to receive a call from Caltex customer service informing me that I had won a Philips portable DVD player and a Timex E-Compass watch,” said taxi driver Ahamad Kamal.

He added that he intends to use the portable DVD player to view movies while passing time waiting for customers. Winners of the second monthly contest level will be contacted by Caltex soon.

In the final lap of the Caltex 75 SurPRIZES contest, the 75 contestants will be competing for a chance to win the grand prize of RM1mil.

“I hope to be selected to be in the running for the RM1mil so that I can retire comfortably,” said a hopeful 55-year-old Loy Wee Len who won a robotic vacuum cleaner.

The prizes were presented by Uzma Nawawi, Chevron’s brand coordinator for Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia.

Uzma said the Caltex 75 SurPRIZES contest was organised to reward Malaysian customers for their strong and loyal support of the Caltex brand for the past 75 years.

Chevron Malaysia Limited operates the retail brand Caltex, which has more than 420 service stations throughout peninsular Malaysia.
