Artist pays tribute to favourite place through book

What say you on the issue below?

YTL Hotels recently held an appreciation dinner cum book launch to fete some of their most faithful clients who have stood by them over the years.

The dinner saw corporate clients from various industries who had lent their assistance to YTL Hotels.

Before the launch of the book, guests were treated to a 10-minute spa treatment by the Spa Village staff.

The book, a travel journal called Journey to Tembok by Chang Fee Ming, is a collaboration between YTL executive director Datuk Mark Yeoh and Chang Fee Ming, one of Asia’s most highly-regarded artists.

This collaboration arose from a mutual love of the island and its rich cultural heritage.

Yeoh chose to build his first spa resort by the idyllic village of Tembok, while Chang has had for years considered Bali his second home.

The travel journal was inspired by Chang’s journey to Tembok, a serene village located on the north-eastern coast of Bali, far from the bustling tourist region of the south.

Touching on locations in and around this peaceful locale, this journal includes sketches and personal accounts and is an exploration of the island’s history, folklore, architecture, culture and arts.

To make it a memorable experience, blank pages have been inserted for the reader to fill with their own anecdotes and memories of the serene resort.

Part inspiration, part archive; the unique tome is an ideal way to capture the elusive but alluring essence of the mystical island.

The book is displayed in all the guests’ rooms at the Spa Village Resort Tembok, Bali and is priced at RM90.
