Irda recognises its partners’ contribution

JOHOR BARU: Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) has recognised some 60 partners of the Iskandar Malaysia who has given cooperation to help in the development.

Recognition were given to private and public sectors including local authorities, developers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) during the Iskandar Malaysia Recognition and Appreciation 2011 night which was held here recently.

Irda Chief Executive Ismail Ibrahim said the recognition was given because of their continuous support and collaboration towards the progress and development of Iskandar Malaysia.

“The partners have played an important role in Iskandar Malaysia’s five-year journey,” he said.

Booming: Partnerships has enabled Iskandar Malaysia attract foreign direct investment.

He added that they have contributed to job creation and opened up business opportunities for local involvement and international recognition.

“Together we have helped make the difference and importantly, have impacted the lives of the people here.

“We must continue as Iskandar Malaysia’s vision journey has just begun,” he said, adding that one of the greatest strength was the collaboration and partnership between private and public sectors.

Ismail explained the partnership has enabled Iskandar Malaysia to continue to attract foreign direct investment.

He also said the continuous effort to understand and working together was important for the growth momentum.

“We will continue to engage and communicate through various forums and channels and provide a platform for partners to give their feedbacks and suggestions to us,” he said.
