MAH Sing Foundation (MSF) is holding a dance performance for charity to raise RM2mil for causes both in Malaysia and overseas.

The performance will be held at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur on Jan 31 and Feb 1 next year featuring the Dance Drama Thousand-Hand (DDTH) troupe from China.

The two-hour performance is directed by Zhang Ji-Gang, the man behind the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Out of 12 chapters of the dance performance, one chapter — the Thousand Hand Guan Yin — will feature dancers who are deaf.

Their performance is worthy of professional dancers without the benefit of relying on the musical beats for cues.

The 21 boys and girls are part of China’s Disabled Peoples Performing Art Troupe.

The event is sponsored by Mah Sing Group Berhad (MSGB), who has collaborated with Daya Intelek Communication Sdn Bhd to bring the dance troupe to Malaysia for 16 shows from Jan 31 to Feb 12, 2012.

MSF was founded by MSGB group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum as part of their efforts to help the needy.

It was established to receive and administer funds solely for medical, educational and charitable purposes and seek to raise funds through annual fundraising events.

“We are certain that MSGB and its corporate partners will step up and support this special event.

“Since the start of this year, MSF has donated close to RM700,000 for charitable causes which in return have positively impacted the communities affected,” said MSF chairman Datuk Syed Norulzaman Syed Kamarulzaman.

MSGB has lined up several package deals for its corporate partners.

The first is the Silver B package priced at RM20,000, followed by the Gold B package (RM30,000), Silver A package (RM100,000), Gold A package (RM150,000), Diamond package (RM200,000) and the Platinum package (RM300,000).

Tickets for the public are also available at RM100, RM150, RM200, RM250 and RM300.

The details on the charitable organisations and causes which will benefit from the fundraiser event will be released on Jan 31, 2012.

All donations, corporate or otherwise will be exempted from tax.
