MALAYSIAN companies that are export-ready should participate in exhibitions abroad to make their presence felt in the global market.
Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) director (lifestyle section, trade and services promotion division) Aureen Jean Nonis urged local companies to register as members with the body to participate in programmes organised by Matrade internationally.
“Besides participating in domestic fairs, Malaysian companies should join Matrade trade exhibitions, business meetings and seminars to enhance their export capabilities,” she said.

She said despite growing opportunities in the gifts, premium and stationery industry, competition was rising.
“To stay ahead, it is important to focus on research and development to enhance your products’ design and functionality.
“Consumers are always seeking quality products that are unique, practical and environmentally-friendly.
“Companies that understand these needs can penetrate and sustain a business share in the global market,” she said.
She added that Matrade hoped more companies would move forward to join the export community.
The three-day event featuring more than 60 manufacturers, master dealers and key distributors of gifts and premiums from all over the country was held at the Penang International Sports Arena.
The fair was jointly organised by Penexpo Events Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Gifts And Premium Entrepreneur Association.
