THE Malaysian Society of Interior Designers (MSID) and Nippon Paint Malaysia recently presented three student artworks to the Selangor Health Department.

The paintings, bound for Klinik Kesihatan Bandar Botanic Klang, were the result of a competition.

Participants were tasked with using recyclable materials and the paint expert’s low odour and low VOC eco-friendly paint, to create works of art which promoted wellness and were suitable for a hospital.

Wonderful art pieces: The paintings were presented to Klinik Kesihatan Bandar Botanic Klang.

“We greatly appreciate the initiative taken by MSID and Nippon Paint to organise the painting competition, and their kind presentation of the three top winning paintings to us.

“We look forward to more such cooperation with the companies,” said Selangor Health Departmetn director Dr Azman Abu Bakar.

With just three hours to complete the paintings, students of Saito College emerged the winners of the contest, while International Islamic University Malaysia and the Malaysian Institute of Art took second and third places, respectively.

“Nippon Paint is committed to supporting and nurturing budding interior design talents. And we are very happy that the students are also being introduced to activities that impact and benefit the community,” said Nippon Paint general manager Gladys Goh.

Aimed at encouraging the sharing of knowledge between the various interior design schools, introducing new ideas and ensuring the highest level of interior design excellence, MSID has been organising the Interior Design Students’ Saturdays since 1995.

Nippon Paint has been the main sponsor of the annual event since 2008. Explaining the students’ initiative, MSID president Mohamad Faisal Ghazali, said “In addition to knowledge in their field of study, we also want to expose interior design students to what is going on around them.

“We want to broaden their minds so that they have a more well-rounded education. As such, we will keep on incorporating projects for the Students’ Saturday that makes them think about the impact of interior design on the community.”

“As the interior design fraternity enters a new era with the formation of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), the new professional institute for interior designers in Malaysia, we look forward to Nippon Paint’s continued support for our new institute’s programmes,” he added.
