In her speech, project chairman Doris S.S. Lee said proceeds from the event would be used to provide free prosthetic limbs to amputees who were poor.

She said the proceeds would also be channelled to the club’s projects such as the Lions SightFirst Campaign (a global effort by Lions around the world to conquer blindness), health campaigns, environmental projects and social gatherings held for the less fortunate during festive seasons.

“The fundraising event is called an ‘eco-fun walk’ because we want participants to enjoy the environment while having a nice stroll at the park,” she said, adding that it was being held for the fifth consecutive year.

Those present were treated to performances and a lunch buffet.

At the event held recently, two wheelchairs were also presented to Ng Wai Kuan, 58, and Leong Kok Heng, 48, from the Society of the Disabled Persons Penang.

Also present were Lion’s Club International District 308 B2 district governor Shawn Lee and former district governors John Loh and Lay Lay Loh.
