ABOUT 80 police officers and 35 community police were involved in a one day community-policing program held at Gelang Patah police station recently.
Community police from Nusantara, Bukit Indah, Nusa Idaman and Skudai took their time off to join the program, which was organised by the Nusajaya police headquarters.
Johor contingent headquarter head of religion and counselling department (BAKA) Supt Wan Samsudin Wan Hussin said that this program was aimed to not just meet with locals, but also foreigners.
“We aimed to meet foreigners especially Singaporean who usually stop by at hawkers stalls nearby here before they went travelling in Johor,” he said.
Mingling with the masses: A police officer briefing the public about the high profile policing programme. He added that the objective of this programme was to create awareness among the public and to make tourists have a good perspective towards the country.
“This is a monthly programme and the programme involves distributing pamphlets about the programme to locals and Singaporeans by the police officers in Taman Nusantara and Gelang Patah.
“The police aim to introduce residents to the programme and remind them to lodge reports whenever there are neighbourhood problems or any other crime incident so that the police can take action,” said Wan.
The community-policing programme is a monthly programme organised by all police contingents nationwide in a way to enhance the relationship between the police and the society.
