THE Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur and the Japanese Women’s Association have teamed up to organise their annual charity bazaar, which has been held for more than 30 years.

“The Charity Bazaar was initially organised on a small scale by a Japanese Women’s Association called Cattleya from 1972.

Noble deed: Organising committee members holding up handmade items to be sold at the charity bazaar.

“It got bigger and the project has since been taken over by the Japan Club and it is now one of our major events,” said organising committee vice-president Mieko Minami.

She said many major Japanese companies had given their support by donating in cash and in kind while there was also good response from individual donors, sponsors and participants.

“Besides handmade craft and home-cooked food, we will also be presenting some traditional Japanese cultural demonstrations to our shoppers, such as a Japanese tea ceremony and a kimono fitting,” sheadded.

Minami said the organisers were expecting between 2,500 and 3,000 people for the bazaar, and they were hoping to match the RM150,000 they raised last year for 26 charity homes.

The event will take place on Nov 13 at Prince Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur.

Admission tickets before the event can be obtained with a donation of RM12 at the Japan Club, Jusco Supermarket service counter in Mid Valley, Bandar Utama and Taman Maluri, and Isetan I-Club at The Gardens Mall, KLCC and Lot 10.

Entry for walk-ins is a door donation of RM15 on the day of the event at the venue.
