All heart for old folks

What say you on the issue below?

THE dedication and sacrifices of the elders to society and the nation must be valued and appreciated, especially during the festive seasons.

In practising this, the management of Pacific West hosted a lunch for residents of Rumah Sejahtera Permatang Tinggi in central Seberang Prai, Penang.

Its chief executive officer Saw Hai Earn said that it was important to inculcate the spirit of caring and respect for the elder generation.

Taking care: Pacific West's sister company's Golden Fresh Sdn Bhd (standing from left) corporate affairs manager Tang Cho Sun, general manager Saw Lip Teik and Rumah Sejahtera Permatang Tinggi deputy chairman Ong You Hock serving food to the home's residents.

“While we feast scrumptiously on special occasions, let us not forget the residents in welfare homes who need love and care, and such an event brings warmth and joy to the elderly,” he said at the lunch held recently at the home, which has 70 residents of various races.

Inspired by Saw’s gesture, his staff has decided to organise a lunch for the home’s residents at the company’s premises in Jalan New Ferry, Butterworth, on Nov 11.

Pacific West corporate chef John Redding said a team would prepare fish and chips meals and chicken soup for the residents in the coming event.
