ALL six football fields in Subang Jaya will be retained and gazetted as green lung to prevent any form of future development.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said she was committed in her bid to retain the six fields as green lungs for the future generation.
She said all the football fields in various parts of Subang Jaya had been fully used.
“The existing football fields are used by the public during weekdays and weekends,’’ she said.
Yeoh said there were plans to develop the green areas and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) played its role well so that the open spaces could be gazetted as green lung.
She said some of the fields had also been taken up for other sporting facilities, including basketball, badminton and futsal courts.
However, she added that in future such facilities would not be built at the expense of the fields.
“I also wish to remind the residents that some minor development such as surau and kindergarten will be built in some of the fields as this was approved in the Local Plan.
“I hope the residents will not raise any objections when such developments are carried out since these had been approved in the past,’’ she said.
Yeoh also visited a football field in USJ 12 which had been replanted with grass.
MPSJ Youth, Sport and Culture senior assistant director Muhammad Zaki Yusoff said the council had spent RM15,000 for the project.
He said a contractor would be engaged to maintain the field.
