THE Penang Young Entrepreneurs Association of Malaysia (PUMM) is giving out 55 awards this year for its Top Team 50 Enterprise Awards Malaysia 2011 night on Nov 26.

This is compared to 50 given out four years ago.

Penang PUMM chairman Leon Lee (pic) said five additional awards based on environment consciousness, would be given out this year to companies that practised green and innovative technologies, thus increasing the number of awards to 55 from 50.

“Besides the Green Awards, there will be 10 honorary awards, 10 platinum awards, and 30 golden awards.

“The Green Award is a direct reflection of the organisation’s concern towards preserving the environment where it hopes to create a better world through it.

“All the companies will also be judged on balanced financial growth, corporate social responsibility practices, and their overall management,” he said.

Speaking at a press conference, he also confirmed that Minister in the Prime Minister Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng were also scheduled to attend the event.

Lee said 55 awards would be given to companies from all over Malaysia that were involved in businesses such as manufacturing, services providers, the hospitality industry, and trading.

“They comprise multinational corporations as well as small medium enterprises,” he said.

As for the judging, Lee said McMillan Woods, which is a renowned global firm of independent accountants and professional advisors, had been appointed to the task.

It would be the independent judging panel for the selection of winners.
