AID given by MCA, such as that from the 1MCA Medical Foundation, is one of the party’s many services to the rakyat regardless of race, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
He said that since its launch last year, the foundation had raised RM10mil.
“To-date 320 poor patients, of all races, have received a total of RM2.7mil from the foundation,” he said in his speech at the Ipoh Timur MCA division 1MCA Medical Foundation dinner.
Apart from this medical foundation, he said the 1MCA Education Fund was set up with RM30mil, assisting students from lower-income families to pursue higher education.
“These are just some of the examples of how MCA puts the 1Malaysia concept into action, giving assistance to the deserving, regardless of race,” he said.
He also reminded the audience not to take racial unity among Malaysians for granted, as there is not one race who has all the benefits nor are there races who have lost everything.
“The Opposition has created an image of themselves as political ‘Superman’, being able to solve all issues easily. However, this is a false image and even our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, is not a ‘Superman’ as he needs to consider all aspects of the problem,” he said.
Dr Chua later received on behalf of the 1MCA Medical Foundation, a cheque for RM200,000 from Ipoh Timur MCA division chief Datuk Thong Fah Chong.
In appreciation, Dr Chua gave RM20,000 to the division to carry out various activities.
