Widow to get financial aid, at last

What say you on the issue below?

AFTER having her monthly assistance application repeatedly rejected for two months due to a miscommunication, widow Ker Lai Mun can now heave a sigh of relief.

The miscommunication between Ker and the clerks was cleared and the application finally approved by the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

A relief: Ker with her six-year-old son at an earlier press conference.

Housewife Ker, 39, lost her husband, Ding Soong Poh, 46, in a hit-and-run accident in late August this year and attempted to apply for monthly assistance to lighten her burden.

“As a single mother of four children, I was in despair when the applications were rejected but now with their approval I am extremely grateful to Socso,” she said, adding that she did odd jobs to support her family.

Her parents and in-laws also extended aid to her prior to receiving any form of monthly assistance.

Perak Socso director Muhammad Alif Haikal Cheong Abdullah had looked into Ker’s case and rectified the problem.

“Her application has been approved and she will receive RM87 per day,” he said.
