THE Kedah branch St John Ambulans Malaysia has started a week-long donation drive to help flood victims in Thailand.

State commander Datuk Dr Chng Kok Heong said the drive, which focuses on increasing food supply and other essential items for the victims, would end on Saturday.

Contributions are being collected at the organisation’s offices in Alor Setar, Sungai Petani and Kulim.

“The Kedah branch acts as the main coordinator to gather resources from various non-governmental organisations, charitable bodies and the public,” he said at a press confe-rence.

Speaking at a press conference in Alor Setar, Dr Chng said items needed by the victims included drinking water, flash lights, mosquito repellent, mosquito nets, boats, rafts, tents, water pumps, rubber boots and camping lanterns.
