Taiping Zoo deserves credit for efforts to build new gallery

What say you on the issue below?

Referring to the article “Lion cubs as added lure to zoo” published on Oct 17, it is really splendid that the Taiping Zoo is putting an effort to build a new tourism gallery and information centre there.

Taiping Zoo has also been successful in animal conservation efforts with the total of six newborn lion cubs born in the last two years.

While these cubs may be super cute, we should feel sad to see them in a zoo where they are being denied their natural surroundings.

Larger home needed: A file picture of Taiping Zoo and Night Safari employees carrying four newborn African lions cubs.

The lion family in the Taiping Zoo seems to be also getting bigger and bigger.

In view of this, it would be more rational to build a larger and more conducive habitat for these lions rather than build a tourism gallery for humans since the zoo is now the animals’ home.

As I believe that Taiping Zoo has no intentions of releasing these lions into the wild any time soon, it is only fair to the animals that efforts are taken to give them a better “home” and experience life as they are supposed to.
