STANDARDS are known to ensure the characteristics of products and services. Hence, as a reliable means of demonstrating quality assurance, Sunway Pyramid shopping mall in Petaling Jaya has recently obtained two ISO certificates to represent its fine business practices and international quality standards.
The International Standardisation for Organisational standards, otherwise known as ISO, are technical agreements designed to be globally relevant, useful everywhere in the world.
Good management practice aside, organisations with ISO certifications safeguard consumers of products and services.
Whilst ISO certifications are not new, Sunway Pyramid’s recent achievement of ISO 9001:2008 for both Standards Malaysia and the more prestigious United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) is another key milestone for the mall in addition to their FIABCI Prix d’Excellence award win this year.
“The objective of the ISO 9001 is to ensure an organisation meets customer requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction.
“Customers of Sunway Pyramid include our shoppers, tenants, retailers and various other business associates who we have always held in high regard.
“Hence it is only natural for us to obtain the certifications as proof of our professional business ethics, conducts and services nationally and internationally,” said Sunway Shopping Malls chief executive officer HC Chan.
With the ISO certificates in place, the mall further reassures quality control, quality assurance and quality management system in their daily operation systems.
Sunway Pyramid is prominently known globally as one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia, widely accessible to international markets.
The mall emerged as Malaysia’s first themed shopping and entertainment in 1997 and had undergone expansion in 2007 to herald a new shopping kingdom that boasts 4 million square feet of retail variety today.
“For the past 14 years, we have proficient good business practices that explain our successes to date.
“Throughout these years, we have won a total of 30 globally recognised awards which represent our first-class reputation and the ISO certificates now would further demonstrate the mall’s confidence and strength, especially in terms of qualitative measures in all business aspects,” said Sunway Shopping Malls chief operating officer Kevin Tan.
