WOULD you like to help build the lives of 101 needy children while having better hair?
You can do so through 101 Hair Care’s charity outreach programme to sponsor 101 children under its annual World Vision International Child sponsorship programme.
The programme, which commenced in 2009, aims to raise RM60,600 annually through public support to meet the basic needs of children needs from underdeveloped countries such as Cambodia, China, Indonesia, India, Lebanon, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam .
101 Hair Care director Ricky Thye said they started sponsoring a few children in 2009 and the number has grown steadily over the years.
Noble deed: World Vision volunteers measuring children’s height and weight in Nazirpur, Bangladesh. “This year’s theme — Love The World — is inspired by a few global celebrations including World Children’s Day and the Christmas season which advocates the spirit of giving and sharing,” said Thye.
To help, all the public need to do is purchase special editions of 101 Hair Care charity sets comprising various products and services with up to 60% off the normal prices.
The packages are available at all 101 Hair Care outlets until Feb 29, 2012.
Some of the products are cuticle care packs, hair growth pack, scalp anti-aging pack, hair nutrition pack and scalp refreshing pack.
The packs are priced from RM688 to RM1,688.
“I am glad to see that there is a common passion in our customers and us to make a difference in the lives of these children. On our part, we hope to continue this charity effort every year and hopefully we can sponsor more children in the future,” said Thye.
Public contributions generated from the sale of the charity hair care sets are pooled together and channelled to the World Vision’s Child sponsorship programme that will provide the sponsored child, his/her family and community a brighter future.
World Vision Malaysia CEO Liew Tong Ngan said the objective of the programme was to help the poor to help themselves by working with them to build sustainable futures for their children, families and communities.
This is achieved via various transformational development programmes that cover areas such as education, health care, nutrition and economic development.
“Every day, nearly 4,000 children die as a result of drinking unsafe and unclean water. Access to clean water and sanitation can cut child death rates by half. With the assistance of 101 Hair Care and their generous sponsorship, we are able to better meet the basic daily necessities of the communities we serve.
“Funds from our sponsors are used to fund community programmes that will give the children access to basic education and health care; educate mothers on the importance of nutrition, pre- and post-natal care; heighten community awareness of issues such as HIV/AIDs and build their overall vocational capacity,” said Liew.
