THE demolition of the East-West Link Expressway’s toll plaza 4 (TP4) and toll plaza 5 (TP5) is expected to be completed by the end of next week.
MTD Group senior vice-president, head of operations and engineering Nik Fauzi Datuk Nik Hussein said the RM600,000 demolition of the two toll plzas began simultaneously on Oct 12 and was now 95% completed.
“The demolition work was carried out in two phases which involved lane closure and reconfiguration.
“We will be putting up signages, which is part of the link configuration after dismantling and removing the toll structures,” Nik Fauzi told reporters at the TP4 office at East-West Link Expressway recently.

Nik Fauzi advised motorists to drive cautiously and not to speed when using the routes.
“Since the demolition, there is an increase of 4% in traffic flow.
“The peak hours for those heading towards Petaling Jaya is from 7am to 10am, while Cheras-bound is from 6.30pm to 8.30pm,” said Nik Fauzi, adding that statistics showed 100,006 motorists used the East-West Link Expressway daily.
Those from the south can benefit from the linkage between the Besraya Highway, the East-West Link and the Federal Highway. The East-West Link is the exit route for users who wanted to go to the Federal Highway, Mid Valley Megamall and Bangsar,
Motorists from Seremban going towards Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak can also exit via the East-West Link along the Federal Highway and Besraya Highway.
