PENANG police will deploy all its 4,000-odd personnel to help the public during floods.
State Chief Police Officer Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob said they had prepared the logistics and other aspects.
“Our personnel are now going on the ground to observe flood-prone areas,” he said after attending a Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at the Jalan Sungai Dua police station in Batu Uban.
He said those staying in flood-prone areas should keep their documents in a safe place.
“They must be quick to pack their clothing to bring along when they are evacuated from their homes,” he said.
He also advised parents to keep a close watch on their children during the rainy season.
“Most flood related accidents such as drowning occur due to human negligence.
“Parents should ensure their children do not go swimming or fishing without adult supervision,” he added.
Three cows were slaughtered during the event. The meat was distributed to policemen.
