DIGI Telecommunications Sdn Bhd recently held a DiGi NETabulous Race for members of the media to showcase how a mobile Internet lifestyle can enrich one’s life.

This was demonstrated via a race against time to complete physical and mental challenges akin to the Amazing Race genre with the help of tablets and DiGi Reward partners at the new wing of the 1Utama shopping mall.

Through the race, DiGi showcased its various mobile applications and services that are available to customers via its tablet-friendly plans using the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The competitors: All the teams with Mohd Nazeem.

“The race is to show how easy and convenient our mobile services can be and to help people stay connected and share happy, interesting moments with family and friends even when they are apart,” said DiGi head of broadband Mohd Nazeem Mohd Nasir.

“In line with our ambition to deliver ‘Internet For All’ by making it easier for everyone to harness the power of the Internet, we are offering a wide range of data plans to suit the different needs of our customers, whether they are on small, big or tablet-sized screens,” he said.

During the race, participants had a chance to try out the features of the tablet and apps installed to help them complete their challenges.

Figuring it out: One of the teams checking out the clues using the new Samsung Galaxy Tab.

They were required to send updates via Facebook SMS or Twitter SMS as well as take photographs and record videos as proof of successful completion of their tasks.

Partners who collaborated in the race included Samsung, fashion house Morgan De Toi, beauty and slimming specialist Mary Chia, It’s a Hit Batting Cages, Toys R Us, children clothing store Poney, Five Star Travel Services and DiGi specialised store.

The race saw eight teams rushing around the mall to complete their challenges in an hour.

Some of the tasks included singing the iconic theme song of DiGi, “I will follow you” and doing the shuffle dance to the music “Party Rock Anthem”.

Over RM15,000 worth of prizes were given away to the top five winning teams.

The race was won by Husain Jahit (Harian Metro) and Chin Yit Fui (New Sabah Times), who took home the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with DiGi prepaid Internet micro SIM pack and RM100 reload voucher.

The first runners-up were Nazrul Azim (Utusan Malaysia) and Jaya Chitra (Kunang Kunang magazine). Both received the Samsung Galaxy GIO smartphone with six months of free DG Smart Plan 68.

All prizes came with exclusive merchandise from Foursquare, Opera Mini and DiGi.
