Music in the rain

What say you on the issue below?

DESPITE a drizzle, this did not dampen the spirit of St George’s Girls School (SGGS) band to perform several melodies outdoors in the Botanic Gardens.

Some 45 determined students, aged between 13 and 17, started practising about two weeks ago as part of the preparation for an upcoming concert.

Geared with trumpets, tabla and cello, talented students kept the crowd entertained by performing movie theme songs from the likes of James Bond and Hello Dolly!

Its director Mohd Haswani Hassan said the students prepared for the concert that was held first time in the Gardens as part of their final preparations for two other concerts next month.

Giving their all: St George's Girls School band performing in Penang Botanic Gardens.

“On Nov 12, SGGS band will hold a musical concert in the school hall and the audience can expect a stunning music performance with a wide mixture of instruments.

The band will hold its Wind Orchestra Concert the next day at Dewan Sri Pinang at 2.30pm,” he said after leading the band for its performances in Botanic Gardens here on Sunday

Both concerts next month are to raise funds for their trip to Hong Kong for the 3rd Winter Wind Orchestra Festival.
