Legend in action

What say you on the issue below?

GUITARIST Paul Ponnudurai can be considered one of Malaysia’s iconic guitarists and musicians.

Paul got his start in music in the mid-1970s and has only been growing from strength to strength since then.

A bluesman at heart, he always knows just how to hit the right notes to strike a chord with the audience and his career has included several great moments, including a feature in Time magazine.

Over the years, Paul has plied his trade in many countries, appearing on stages as far away as Norway and New Zealand.

Old school vibes: Paul Ponnudurai will be hitting the stage at CJ’s next weekend.

He has also been a regular feature at many jazz festivals throughout the world, including Malaysia’s own Penang Island Jazz Festival.

Along the way, Paul has shared the stage with many illustrious names, including drummer Billy Cobham and Aussie guitarist Tommy Emmanuel.

Next weekend, the guitar guru will be back in town to play his heart out on stage at CJ’s in Dataran 3 Two Square in Petaling Jaya.

It will not be just the old blues standards as Paul has an impressive body of work, including an album to his name so be sure to watch out for some of his own compositions when he hits the stage.

There will not be a cover charge for the gig so kick back and get ready for some smooth grooves.

Watch this space for more information on the gig, and Paul, next week.
