AFTER successfully illuminating Jalan Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur with the colour pink in October, Estee Lauder Companies ended its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign with a huge contribution to non-profit organisations that fight for the cause.
At a luncheon at the Estee Lauder Training Centre recently, a cheque worth RM550,000 was presented to Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation, College of Radiology, National Cancer Society Malaysia, Kinabalu Cancer Support Association and Breast Cancer Support Group Johor Baru.
According to Estee Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2011 chairperson, Joyce Teh, the objective of the campaign this year was to reach out to more people.
“In line with our corporate values of ‘Bringing The Best To Everyone We Touch’, we hope to reduce the average number of breast cancer cases in Malaysia,” said Teh.
The latest Health Ministry report stated that 29 out of 100,000 women in Malaysia had breast cancer.
The Estee Lauder Breast Awareness campaign urges women to perform regular self-checks as early detection can help save lives.
Acting managing director of Estee Lauder Companies Malaysia Liew Kim Seng presented the cheque to Breast Cancer Welfare Association patron Puan Sri Akmal Abdul Salam.
