Global turnout expected at Malakoff race

PRODUCT vouchers worth RM20,000 are up for grabs in the Malakoff 12km and 7km race at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort (BKECR) in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 18.

About 3,000 participants are expected for the event, held for the fourth season, which has attracted participants from 20 countries including Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Sweden, Japan, Kenya, United States and Singapore.

The 7km event has four categories — Men’s Open, Men’s Junior, Women’s Open and Women’s Junior ­— and offers product vouchers to the top three winners.

There are six categories — Men’s Open (16 years and above); Men’s Veteran (40-50 years); Men’s Senior Veteran (above 51 years); Women’s Open (16 years and above); Women’s Veteran (35-45 years) and Women’s Senior Veteran (above 46 years).

The 7km race comes with prizes in the form of product vouchers for the top three finishers in four categories (Men’s, Men’s Junior, Women’s and Women’s Junior), for all completing the race within the specific qualifying time.

The 12km race is made up of six categories: Men’s Open (16 years above), Men’s Veteran (40-50 years), Men’s Senior Veteran (above 51 years), Women’s Open (16-years above), Women’s Veteran (35-45 years) and Senior Veteran (above 46-years)

The top five winners in each of the six categories will be rewarded with product vouchers. The race is co-sponsored by BKECR, Powerbar, Gatorade, World of Sport, Mizuno, Perskindol, Athlete’s Circle and Quick Release Adventures.

Malakoff Corporation chief executive officer Zainal Abidin Jalil said they were pleased with the response to the race.
