JOHOR BARU: Florist shops have been busy trying to keep up with orders for the significant date of 11.11.11 not just marriages, but also preparing gifts to loved ones.

A visit by The Star to two florist shops in Taman Johor Jaya and Taman Sri Tebrau found staff busy preparing bouquets.

Xin Florist & Gifts Centre customer service officer Shirley Ng, 25, said Xin Florist received more than 30 orders for wedding bouquets since early last month.

She said many of the shop’s customers requested for roses for their special day on Nov 11.

“Many of our customers want red champagne roses or pink-coloured roses for their wedding bouquets as roses gives that romantic persona.

“Our shop has various designs where customers can choose from or they can even personally design their wedding bouquets for that personal touch,” she said.

Shirley also said the shop also received orders from Singapore as well.

“Customers can also look at our flower arrangement designs and order bouquets from our website at www.xinflorist.com and we will send the flowers to them.

“Our prices range between RM1.50 to RM3,000 depending on what types or how many flowers customers want for their wedding bouquet,” she said.

Florist Koh Ai Moi, 40, who has been in the business for more than 13 years said many of her customers were couples planning to get married.

“Many believe that Nov 11 is an auspicious day.

“So far, I have received about 10 orders for bouquets with my customers preferring roses and white lilies,” she said.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 couples are expected to get married on 11.11.11 not just at the National Registration Department offices nationwide but also at local associations.
