Avid young readers shine

What say you on the issue below?

AT the age of 11, Nur Jannati Syakirin Ramli, a daughter of a cattle breeder in Sungkai, has read over 300 books.

What is more interesting is that the SK Trolak Selatan pupil, who aspires to be a scientist, loves reading serious novels, which even adults might not read.

“I am a great admirer of masterpieces such as Detik-Detik Diri Di Daerah Daif written by National Laureate Shahnon Ahmad and Debu Hiroshima by Othman Puteh.

“While many may consider it too serious, I think there is a lot to gain from the knowledge and experiences of these authors,” she told reporters in Ipoh after being chosen as the state’s Tokoh Nilam in the primary school category.
