Actress gives motivational talk to encourage devotion in everyday life

What say you on the issue below?

Success comes to people who give their best in everything they do. This is one secret to success shared by Ipoh-born Hong Kong actress Mimi Choo.

“Even in show business, if you are given a minor role, you still have to do your best, and do it with dedication.

“Eventually, someone will be able to recognise your efforts,” she said when giving a motivational talk to a crowd of raucous students at SMJK (C) Yuk Choy in Ipoh.

Despite spraining her leg and injuring her back a few days earlier, she still managed to delight the crowd with her charming and laid back humour.

The actress even invoked school pride within the students and teachers by getting them to stand up to sing the school song together.

Subsequently, she gave the audience a brief entertainment session by singing a Cantonese song, and encouraged students to sing along with her.

School principal Chan Hen Huan later gave a brief speech explaining the reason behind her visit and gave her a warm welcome.

Choo interrupted him asking him not to call her Miss Choo Mimi as it sounded too formal.

“Just call me pretty woman, that’s enough,” she said, which got the crowd laughing out loud.

Choo visited her alma mater to help raise funds for a new school building.

She is promoting the school’s New School Building Fund Charity Concert to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Dec 18.

The concert which will be at the Plenary Hall Auditorium would feature Choo as the main guest artiste, singing alongside another Hong Kong artist, Johnny Yip.

The new five-storey multi-purpose school building which is still under construction will comprise science and computer laboratories, a library, an air-conditioned auditorium and more classrooms.

Currently the school still needs RM3mil for the building project.

The charity concert will start at 8pm. Tickets are priced at RM100 and RM200.
