Technicians, who are currently not certified, will have the opportunity to be certified with the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (Malaysian Skills Certificate) by the Department of Skills Development.

PAWOA president, Cho Chee Seng, said the programme — Belia 1Mahir under the Ministry of Youth and Sports — would assist all Malaysian youths aged between 18 and 40 years with a minimum of one year’s experience in the field to be certified under the department’s Recognition of Prior Achievement programme.

“To ensure the commitment of the applicants under this scheme, the applicants need to pay only RM100 for registration while the balance RM200 will be sponsored by the ministry,” said Cho.

“There is no written examination at all under this programme. All applicants must provide documentation as evidence supporting their past or current working experiences or achievements along with their portfolio.”

Cho also said PAWOA has designated special officers to assist them in the applicants process and every applicants must attend at least three briefing sessions to be conducted by the Department of Skills Development.
