THE national track cycling team flexed their muscles and closed accounts with another four gold medals at the Rawamangun Velodrome yesterday, completing a seven gold medal sweep.

Fatehah Mustapha completed her personal target of three gold medals when she faced no problem disposing Filipina Apryl Eppinger in the 200m sprint final which ended in two straight match sprints.

Even a mere five-minute break before she had to join Jupha Somnet for the women's team sprint final didn't stop her as Fatehah had enough in her tank to anchor the duo to victory over Thailand's Sricha Chanakan and Jutatip Maneephan.

"I'm pretty satisfied with this campaign. I came here targeting three gold medals and I got just that," said Fatehah, who could have added a medal in the scratch race had she not suffered a puncture with five laps to go in the 5km event.

Fatehah will now continue with her Olympic qualifying campaign when she heads to Cali, Colombia for the second round of the UCI World Cup series in two weeks.

Hafiz Sufian completed his first competitive omnium campaign when he won the 1km time trial to bag the six-race event gold medal with a total of 10 points, to see off Indonesia's Fatahillah Abdullah who scored 11 points.

Malaysia also took the bronze medal through Pelapis programme athlete Ahmad Fakhrullah Alias.

Hafiz dedicated his victory to his first child due to be born in the first week of January with his wife Najjah Fouzi, whom he wed in March.

The men's 200m sprint was a certainty, only awaiting a final decided between two Malaysians.

After starting with the elite programme based in Melbourne in 2007, Edrus Yunos delivered his first meaningful individual gold medal when he beat compatriot Fattah Amri Zaid in a straight match sprint.

Adiq Husainie Othman only just lost out in the points race final, having to settle for the silver medal as Rene Mier Lohn of the Philippines launched a breakaway and took the 20 points for lapping the field to overcome Adiq's lead which he'd held from the opening laps. Indonesia's Ibnu Faroka took the bronze medal.
