WEST LAKE Garden Chinese restaurant at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa is celebrating the ongoing Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) with two exquisitely crafted menus – Opulent Jade and Luxe Pearl – which are available until the end of October.
Prepared by Chinese master chef Chan Choo Kean, both menus are rich in oriental flavours from the freshest of ingredients and showcase Chan’s passion for experimenting with herbs and spices.
The six-course Opulent Jade menu (RM188++ per person) offers a decadent selection of Sichuan beef with foie gras stuffed in soft and fluffy Chinese steamed bun and a succulent barbecued chicken roulade and white fungus with pickled lotus as starters.
Next is a serving of hot and clear organic chicken consommé and baby abalone with chrysanthemum and cordycep, which is rich in herbs and flavour.
The savoury chicken broth is followed by an invigorating claypot braised salmon with garlic, shallot, ginger and spring onion.
The crowning glory of the menu is fried Boston lobster cooked to a crispy perfection which is then rounded up with an aromatic serving of Cantonese braised noodle with shredded scallop, sweet preserved vegetable and eggplant.
Dessert is essence of emperor date and aloe vera with fragrant coconut.
Meanwhile, the Luxe Pearl menu (RM138++ per person) starts with a serving of venison ribs dripping with xi chiang glaze, and served with garlic cucumber pickles and steamed prawn with abalone dumpling.
A hot bowl of thickened crab and cod fish soup with braised snow crab claw wanton is next, followed by sizzling seared black peppered Australian beef with onion and garlic flakes, and then the wok-seared scallop with herbal wolfberry and tsien jin cabbage.
The meal ends with wild glutinous rice filled with lotus seed, chestnut and bamboo pith.
To sweeten the palate, there is double-boiled homemade almond tea with papaya on egg white for dessert.
Throughout the month-long MIGF celebration, the West Lake Garden Chinese restaurant is offering a 10% discount on selected house pouring wine by glass and on any beverage with the purchase of the festive menus.
