THE delighted pupils of SRJK Eng Chuan in George Town, Penang, chatted excitedly after receiving RM100 from their teachers.
The cash received was the allocation for all students as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2012 Budget.
Supervisor K. Devaraj, 34, whose son is studying in the school, said that it was a very good programme.
“The cash will certainly help lighten the load.
Something to smile about: The pupils and parents posing with Loke (second right) after the presentation. “I wish to use it to purchase school items for my son,” said Devaraj.
Year Three pupil Mohd Isyraf Mazuki, nine, said that he felt very happy to receive the money.
“I want to get more revision books, especially in Mandarin, to help me improve in my studies,” said Isyraf.
His classmate K. Dinandra, nine, also shared in the happiness.
“I want to buy new school uniforms and stationery for next year,” he said.
Their classmate Foo Wai Kin, nine, said he felt lucky to receive the money.
“I will buy new school shoes because I have been using the same pair for two years,” he said.
Pengkalan Kota Barisan co-ordinator Loke Poh Chye was there to present the RM100 to the pupils and their parents.
“They are all eager to spend the money on school items. This eases the burden on their parents,” said Loke.
A total of 60 students received the RM100 at the school on Thursday. Earlier, Loke also handed out the money to eight pupils from SRJK (C) Beng Teik.
