BANKING on its strategic location, practical concept and carefully-selected tenants, the KL City Walk is set to function at its full capacity by early next year.
Located between Jalan P. Ramlee and Jalan Pinang opposite Wisma UOA, the city’s first-ever pedestrian strip mall, which spans almost 500m long is going to woo both locals and tourists with more surprises over the months.
Among the surprises are day-to-day promotions, a longer opening hours from 10am to 5am, and more events.

KL City Walk marketing manager Mohammad Hasim Rasheed said currently the tenancy rate stood at 80% and tenants ranged from a variety of businesses such as retail, food and travel services.
He said the pedestrian mall was a bustling one-stop lifestyle strip mall offering an ideal and convenient place to meet and revel in the sights and sounds, aromas and tastes of Kuala Lumpur.
“It’s not only for tourists but locals too. We have many residences and offices here.
“In the evenings, when the city centre is all jammed up, there are those who would want to chill out until the traffic eases,” said Hasim, adding that the company valued a different level of tenant-owner ties by working with the tenants to provide the best service.
“Eventually it is all about the service,” said Hasim, adding that KL City Walk was still going through adjustments when it came to its offers to customers.

“There are many plans, mostly event-related ones, which will be executed over the months. But along with that, we also have interesting specials like themed days for every day of the week.
“For instance, for Ladies Day on Wednesdays, we offer 50% discounts on selected items for women. Discounts on Romance Day would benefit couples. So that is how we work with our tenants to keep it interesting for our shoppers and make this place unique,” he said.
Some of the interesting outlets at the pedestrian mall is the award-winning Shoemaking and Design Award recipient — Kheng Yu, featuring her label ‘Lulu’ in addition to her signature collection for men and women.
Shoppers can also look forward to a collection of unique finds from Malaysia’s rich pool of master as well as apprentice craftsmen from Karyaneka, Lanbahrin and promising local fashion designers.
Food outlets include Malaysia’s home-grown snack-chain Leko-Leko, local staples such as Rashid’s Mee Rebus Utara and Pasembur and Haven on the Walk CafĂ© Bistro that sees 10,000 diners a month at their current location at Ampang Lookout Point.
A new addition to the food and beverage department is Viva Mocha. A modern and chic hangout for coffee lovers, the coffee bar prides itself in its special recipes and shop concept.
Owner Taufik Ghani said the bar had an open concept that encouraged customers to ask questions on coffee-making tips while their coffee were being made.
“Most of these coffee recipes were gathered during my travels. Targeting coffee lovers, the tid bits that we offer are also made from coffee or chocolate,” he said.
