Hafizh finishes first despite blistering heat and downpour

MALACCA: The blistering heat and subsequent heavy rains proved no damper as Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah, Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali and Fakhrusy Syakirin Rostam rode on superbly while handling their bikes confidently to notch impressive wins at Round 8 of the Petronas AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championships at the Stadium Hang Jebat Circuit in Malacca.

For Hafizh aged 17, and wearing the colours of Petronas Syntium Moto Yamaha Raceline, his first place finish in the CP130 event follows a similar success in Round 7 at Kluang in mid October. In Malacca, he blazed through the 15-lap race clocking 12 minutes 53.812 seconds.

Mohd Ramdan Mohd Rosli riding under the Petronas Syntium Moto Yamaha AHM banner was second in 12:55.387 while Harian Metro TEQ SCK Honda Racing Team’s Mohd Affendi Rosli posted third position stopping the clock at 12:55.888.

With this victory, winner Hafizh registered 79 points, moving up from 12th in the overall standing to joint second along side Ahmad Fazli Sham (Pennzoil Fastrac Racing Team) and Mohd Affendi Rosli (Harian Metro TEQ SCK Honda Racing team).

Championship leader Norizman Ismail (Harian Metro TEQ SCK Honda Racing Team) extended his lead to 102 points despite finishing a lowly eighth out of 22 starters.

In the CP115 event Mohd Fitri Ashraf Razali donning Harian Metro TEQ SCK Honda Racing Team colours strode to the forefront nipping S.Sasitharen (M-Seki Liberty Honda Racing Team) in a tight finish.

Mohd Fitri clocked 10 minutes 48.772 second while Sasitharen nicked home in 10:49.137. Mohd Farid Ahmad of Global Bike Rock Oil Racing Team came in third posting a time of 10:53.486.

Fakhrusy Syakirin Rostam bearing the colours of AAP Mazoil Faito Racing Team triumphed in the Wira event returning a time of nine minutes 25.052 second with Mohd Arif Abdul Rahman romping home second clocking 9:28.74.

In third position was Tengku Amirul Haffiruddin registering a time of 9:29.60. Both the second and third placed finishers rode wearing colours of the Pennzoil Malaysia Racing Team.

Race 9 comes up at the Sepang Circuit from Nov 12 to 13 with the final round scheduled from Dec 3 to 4 with the Esplanade Padang Kota in Penang as the venue.
