Fresh coat of paint for two units in Bukit Jambul

What say you on the issue below?

An invalid single mother with two primary schoolchildren received a pleasant Hari Raya Adiladha gift when Barisan Nasional decided to give a fresh coat of paint and new floor mats to her dilapidated rented flat.

She was touched by Barisan’s effort three days before the festive occasion.

Unemployed Che Wan Abdul Wahab, 48, was grateful to Bayan Baru Barisan coordinator David Yim who helped to give her home a new look.

“Just three days before the Hari Raya Haji, they came to change the flooring, cleaned up the unit and painted our home and grills. We are blessed to receive such aid,” she said when met at her rented unit at Taman Bukit Jambul, Bukit Jambul on Sunday.

Che Wan, a divorcee, is confined to a wheelchair since February after she tore her hamstring following an accident, which involved her motorcycle and a car.

“I could hardly move my legs and had to depend on my two children to help me with household chores,” she said.

Her children Noor Hazimah Sobri, nine, and Muhammad Haziman Sobri, seven, were delighted with the new look of their home.

“This new look provides a conducive environment for us to study,” Noor Hazimah said.

Yim also assisted a pensioner Teh Tat See, 66, due to his frail condition after he had met with two accidents last year. Teh lost his wife five years ago when she succumbed to a stroke.

Teh, an ex-trishaw pedaller, was aided by Yim when he engaged local residents in the area to help repaint the former’s home, change the flooring, and to generally clean up the unit.

Teh lives with his daughter, who works as a salesgirl in a supermarket and a son, an odd job worker.

Yim also presented Teh with a walking stick when they met at his home in Taman Bukit Jambul.

He said about RM1,000 was spent on the repainting and fixing the floor mats of both units.

“Our service centre received a number of residents seeking for assistance, especially in the northeast district. We hope that the district’s welfare unit would help sort out people who need aid,” he said.

Yim also said that any corporate companies who wish to perform their corporate social responsibility can meet up with him at his service centre at 55, Persiaran Mahsuri 1 in Sunway Tunas, Bayan Baru or call the centre at 04-6468808.
