Encouraging response for Unity Football Carnival

RESPONSE has been encouraging for the Unity Football Carnival at Taman Menara Maju, Klang on Nov 27.

The carnival, catering for Under-12 and Under-18 age groups, is organised by the Taman Menara Maju Rukuntetangga sector and supported by SportsUnite, Milo, Figos and Revive.

Organising chairman T. Kanniappan said they had restricted the number of teams to about eight in each group.

“But we have been flooded with calls and now we are looking at increasing the number of teams to 16 in each age group. Then we will be able to have four groups in each age group. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals,’’ said Kanniappan after a sponsorship ceremony.

Each team will be allowed to register 10 players but they must comprise of different races. Kanniappan said they would like the resident associations and RT sectors in Klang to take part in the carnival.

“It will be an excellent platform for youngsters in Klang to get together for a sporting event. Schools in Klang should also take the opportunity to send their students for the carnival,’’ said he added.

SportsUnite Sports Club chairman Datuk Dina Rizal said they were pleased to work the Menara Maju RT sector.

“They have an excellent team. We had organised several events with them and the support from the local community was good. Once again, we are convinced the carnival will be a success,’’ said Dina.
