KUANTAN: It was a special moment for couple Kang Chih Yuan and Quik Shieng Wei who registered their marriage at exactly 11.11am on Nov 11.
They were also the first in line at a mass wedding registration event at the Pahang Buddhist Association temple here, adding another one to their auspicious wedding date.
“We did not really expect it and were quite surprised when the temple staff told us we were number one,” said accounts clerk Quik, 26.
No.1: Chih Yuan and Shieng Wei were the first in line to register their marriage at exactly 11.11am on Nov 11. The couple had been together for two years after being introduced to each other by their friends.
Insurance agent Yee Chun Han and beautician Tan See Yee were the 11th couple to have their marriage registered.
“We feel so lucky today to get an extra eleven,” said Yee, 23.
He said they had planned to get married on that date as it was a beautiful date.
“We started dating since Form Four.
“After eight years together, I said why not get married on this special date,” said Yee.
They were among 62 couples who decided to tie the knot at the event on Friday.
Meanwhile, engineer couple Ng Yean Min, 31, and Eng Pei Chee, 23, waited half a year just to get hitched on the special day.
“We have planned this for quite a while.
“The date is important to us as the numbers signify one promise, one family, one heart and my will to take careof my wife for the rest of our lives,” said Ng.
