THE tasting and exchanging of mooncakes during the Mid Autumn Festival, which is celebrated on Sept 12 this year, is a much-loved tradition that brings family members, friends and business associates together.
This year, Resorts World Genting is offering a value-for-money option to buy the mooncakes without the box packaging. The mooncakes in just its basic plastic packaging are each priced from just RM7.80 onwards.
For those who wish to purchase the mooncakes as a gift for for families, friends or business associates, they can choose from two attractive box design options – a metal box set with each mooncake priced from RM8.80 onwards or a corporate box set with each mooncake priced from RM9.80 onwards.
Resorts World Genting is also offering a mini mooncake box set priced at RM45+ per box. It comes with six pieces of mini mooncakes together with a piece of choy san yeh (god of prosperity) cookie.
The six mini mooncakes come in flavours of assorted nuts, mango lotus paste, low sugar white lotus paste, durian lotus paste, green tea lotus paste and red bean paste.
Besides the 16 classic mooncake flavours, Resorts World Genting’s master dim sum chef Gan Chee Keong has also created three new flavours that will excite your taste buds.
These are the white lotus paste with spirulina skin, nyonya sambal with lotus paste and white butter skin with pandan sweetcorn paste.
The white lotus paste with spirulina skin mooncake is not only tasty but healthy as well. Spirulina is well-known for its amazingly high content of nutrients.
In this creation, Gan used imported spirulina formulated for the mooncake’s skin and paired it with white lotus paste – a combination that is hard to resist.
Mooncakes do not necessarily have to be sweet, therefore Gan had created a savoury mooncake – the nyonya sambal with lotus paste. This unique creation has curry powder, chilies, coconuts and onions together with lotus paste.
Last but not least, the white butter skin with pandan sweetcorn paste uses butter in its skin, giving it a creamy texture and taste.
The soft skin is paired with aromatic pandan flavours and sweetcorn for its paste. The result is a mooncake that melts in the mouth.
Other varieties of mooncake flavours produced by Resorts World Genting are snow skin mango paste, snow skin white lotus paste, low sugar white lotus paste, lotus paste with single yolk, lotus paste with double yolk, green tea lotus paste and many more.
