Blueprint unveiled

What say you on the issue below?

A COPY of the Penang Industrial Blueprint 2011-2015 was shown in the House to quash speculation that the blueprint is “non-existent”.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the blueprint was prepared by Datuk Seri Chet Singh who was the former Penang Development Corporation general manager.

“The blueprint was ready in October 2010 and a copy of it was printed earlier this year, but it had to be shelved after the state government was asked to co-operate with the Federal Government to draft the Greater Penang Masterplan.”

He said the state government had to cast aside the blueprint after they promised to work closely with the Federal Government on the masterplan.

“We have to honour our promise to Datuk Seri Idris Jala, who is the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

“But unfortunately, we were hit and criticised by the Opposition for not having a blueprint or direction,” he said in his winding-up speech at the state assembly sitting.

It was earlier reported that a group of people from the Opposition parties had asked Lim to reveal the Penang Industrial Blueprint 2011-2015 to the public.

Machang Bubok Barisan co-ordinator Ooi Suan Hoe was quoted as saying that the state government should reveal the plans to the people since it claimed it had a blueprint for the state industry.
