GETTING married on Nov 11, 2011 (11.11.11) had extra significance for 30-year-old sales manager David Chia because it is also his birthday.
Chia met his wife Freesia Lau, 29, four years ago and they decided to get married this year.
“We specifically chose this date to get married because it’s such a special number. Because it’s also on his birthday, he has no excuses not to remember our anniversary,” said Lau with a laugh.

The couple was dressed in traditional Chinese wedding attire which made them stand out among the 311 pairs gathered at the Klang Hokkien Association for the 11.11.11 mass wedding registration ceremony.
Friends Kelly Sih, 26, and Winnie Tan, 23, from Klang were also present with their partners and two other couples.
Sih said their husbands were friends and the four couples decided to get married this year.
“We thought we would all do it together at this mass ceremony,” said Sih.
Tan said to get married on the same day as her friends made the occasion more memorable.

Guest service engineer Looy Wan Kat, 29, from Ipoh and his bride Lim Sin Har, 28, from Kuala Selangor decided to join the mass registration at the association because of the significance of the date.
“I chose this date because we are blessed that it happened in our life time,” said the beaming Lim.
During the mass registration ceremony, the couples recited their vows in unison.
Friends and family who attended the event were also treated to a dance performance and a fashion show featuring a collection of wedding attire.
