Association against other taxis operating in Genting Highlands terminal

What say you on the issue below?

MEMBERS of the Genting Highlands Pahang Taxi Drivers’ Welfare Association protested against a move to allow other taxis into the highland’s terminal by picketing in front of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) Putrajaya office on Thursday.

Some 20 members held a peaceful protest in front of the office and held up banners stating city and executive taxis should not be allowed into the terminal.

The group also made a few demands through a memorandum submitted to SPAD.

Unhappy lot: Genting Highlands taxi drivers staging a protest in front of the SPAD office at Putrajaya.

Among some of the demands were to approve 100 rental car permits to the association and to place a full-time enforcement officer at Genting Highlands.

SPAD chief operaing officer Azhar Ahmad said that they would look into the issues raised by the association through the memorandum.

“An appointment to meet up with the group is being arranged for next week to enable us to understand their predicament and work towards overcoming their problems,” he said.
