MANY people have some form of association with the date 11.11.11 which they regard as a special day due to the numeric significance.
However, Anuthra Rao has a valid reason to be associated with the date as she turns 11 on Nov 11, 2011.
The family had long waited for the day and had even planned a big birthday celebration for the Year Five pupil of Methodist Girls School in Klang.
Unfortunatedly for Anuthra, the family were forced to put off the plan after her grandfather died in May.
According to the Hindu tradition, it is not appropriate to have any form of celebration for a year after the death of a family member.
Anuthra said she had been getting a lot of attention both from her friends and family members.
“Everybody is talking about this date as special so much so that I also feel great about turning 11 on this date.
“I celebrated my birthday with my classmates during the class party and my friends also gave me gifts.
“Although my family is unable to throw a birthday party or me, I will be going out with my cousins and friends,’’ she said
Her father Ramachander Rao said he was sad that the family was unable to celebrate his daughter’s birthday as planned.
However, he said the family would share in Anuthra’s birthday joy.
