Chinese couple opt for “bersanding” ceremony

JITRA: IT was a truly Malaysian wedding of sort when Soo Sheng Leng, 28, and his bride from Kampung Alor Rambai here appeared in a Malay traditional costume for their wedding reception today.
Soo, a contractor donned a 'baju Melayu' with 'songkok' while his bride, Goh Sok Chin, 27, appeared in a 'kebaya' with hijab.
It was indeed a Malay wedding reception style as the 3,000 guests were treated with Malay delicacies such as 'nasi minyak', 'gulai talang', 'rose chicken' and beef curry.
Soo said he was more than happy to fulfill the wish of his father 58-year-old father Soo Lian Hin's wish to have the wedding in a Malay tradition as the family had been living in the Malay community over the past three generations.
