School relocated after almost a century

What say you on the issue below?

The 96-year-old SJK (C) Wu Teck in Bagan Hailam will finally be relocated to a new block in Bandar Parklands, Klang.

The students staged several performances before removing the school’s flag and signboard on the last day of school term.

Klang Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Teh Kim Poo, who was present at the ceremony, thanked the committee members for completing the project in a short period of time.

About time: The school will be relocated to Bandar Parkland Bukit Tinggi 3.

“It was a remarkable effort from the committee members and those involved in the project,” Teh said before handing out certificates to the final batch of Year Six students.

He also thanked Bandar Parklands developer WCT Group for giving the land and absorbing part of the construction cost of the building.

Teh said the Federal Government had approved RM3mil for the relocation of the school several years ago.

However, he said the project was put on hold after the Pakatan Rakyat administration took over the state government.

The new school building cost RM5.5mil.

Klang MCA youth chief Dr Ching Eu Boon, a former student of the school, said it was about time the school was relocated.

“The present school is in bad condition with rotting wooden beams and rusting zinc roofs,” he said.

He added that the new school had many facilities such as e-learning and a computer lab.

The school’s board of director, Ng Geok Kee, said he would cushion the travelling expenses of the students from Year One to Year Five to nearby schools.

“It would be too expensive and far for the students to travel all the way to Bandar Parklands. Hence, I will pay for their travelling expenses to nearby schools,” he added.
