BUSINESSMAN Ling Tong Tong hardly finds the time to go for a medical check-up.
That was why when he learnt of a health campaign being organised at Macallum Street, Penang, he made it a point to attend it.
“I have a busy schedule and I hardly have any time to go for health screening which I am aware is necessary,” he said.
Ling, 42, who is a member of the Macallum Street Ghaut community policing, said the medical screening showed his blood pressure recorded a slightly higher reading.
Pengkalan Kota Barisan Nasional coordinator Loke Poh Chye said the health campaign was held in his constituency to create health awareness among the public.
“About 65% of the people here are in their golden age and it is very important that we take care of our health from young,” he said.
Loke added that health problems could be detected through early screening and the right medication could be prescribed.
The campaign was organised by Loke’s service team jointly with the 1Malaysia Community Alliance Foundation (1MCA).
The event, held from 10am to noon on Sunday near Loke’s service centre on Macallum Street, included eye screening, health exhibition, body mass index test and diabetes screening.
Also present were Komtar Barisan Nasional coordinator Loh Chye Teik, Penang MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau deputy chief Lim Thoon Deong and 1MCA Foundation (north zone) executive secretary Daniel Tan. The campaign was supported by the Macalister Road Health Clinic, Diabetic Society of Penang and Phang Optometrist.
