Exco man: Expose the young to Chinese arts

What say you on the issue below?

SCHOOLS should put more emphasis on teaching Chinese arts including calligraphy to their students, said Penang Town and Country Planning, Housing and Arts Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.

He said the younger generation nowadays were not given sufficient exposure to aspects relating to Chinese culture.

“During my visit to Hong Kong recently, I noticed calligraphy writing on the walls of the LRT stations.

“We should follow this example,” he said in his speech when launching a calligraphy painting exhibition at Island Gallery.

The exhibition ends today. Admission is free.
