FOCUSING on environment-friendly cooking practices, the Fabulous Food 1Malaysia Restaurant Food Carnival and Cooking competition is calling for participants.

The categories include Housewives Cooking and Creative Health Care Vegetable and Fruit Blending.

Open to all housewives, the Housewives Cooking competition requires participants to prepare a warm dish for six persons in 45 minutes.

Judging will be based on taste, texture, colour and hygiene.

How it is done: A cooking demonstration was conducted by Chef Cheng Chea Wea at the event launch.

Those interested are required to submit their respective recipes, with accompanying photographs.

Twenty contestants will be shortlisted on Nov 20 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

Organised in partnership with Gastronomic magazine and U-Kang Corporation Sdn Bhd, the vegetable and fruit blending competition, also on Nov 20, is aimed at encouraging housewives to use blending machines to prepare juices for health benefits.

Contestants should also be able to explain the health benefits of their creations.

Judging will be based on health benefits, presentation, drink colour and texture.

Selangor and Federal territory Ku Su Shin Choong Hung Restaurant Association president Lum Tuck Loy said the competition was to encourage housewives to use environmentally-friendly cooking utensils to prepare dishes for good health.

“The feedback has been very encouraging so we have to go through a hard process of choosing the 20 participants for the actual contest.

“We hope to encourage more of the public to consume pure natural fruit and vegetable juices for health reasons.

“As more people are getting health conscious these days, the competitions will help to increase awareness,” he said.

The closing date for registration for the housewives cooking competition is Oct 31. Those who want to participate in the juice blending competition can register at the competition venue on Nov 18.
