Best companions for life

What say you on the issue below?

POPULAR television and radio personality Angel Wong Chui-ling adores dogs.

“They make the best companions and I have had pet dogs all my life,” said the Hong Kong- born Wong who is also a sought after host and columnist.

Given her passion for dogs, Wong who has been based in Malaysia for years, is a staunch and long time supporter of canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB).

Take me home: Wong with a rescued puppy from a previous adoption drive.

“MDDB does a great job rescuing, treating and rehoming dogs and they have been at it without stop for several years now,” said Wong.

Wong who strongly believes that one should adopt and not buy a pet will be at MDDB’s adoption carnival this Sunday at Bandar Kinrara 5.

The event will be held between 10am and 6 pm outside the Kinrara Veterinary Centre located at No 20, Jalan BK 5A/3B, Bandar Kinrara 5, Puchong.

(The venue is behind Giant Bandar Kinrara 5 and between Briyani Gam and Old Town White Coffee.)

More than 30 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens will be put-up for adoption at the event.

“I am going to see if there are any puppies there that I can adopt to keep my dog Fatgirl a.k.a Feimui company,” said Wong who will be at the venue from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Wong had also attended MDDB’s previous adoption events and was the one who had launched their inaugural adoption drive almost three years ago.

Another celebrity visitor at the event is MDDB’s rescued dog Mimi Chitta who now lives in a sanctuary in Semenyih.

MDDB rescued Mimi Chitta from Semenyih after a resident in a housing estate looped off her nose with a machete.

MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai said Mimi Chitta’s initial prognosis was grim as it would be difficult for a dog to live without a nose.

“But Mimi Chitta persevered and recovered quickly and is leading a regular life albeit not having a nose,” said Lai.

Besides getting to meet Wong and Mimi Chitta, visitors can also bring their pets for a free basic grooming.

Lai said MDDB has also arranged for free veterinary advice to be made available at the carnival.

Those wanting to donate canned and dry dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, rice, soap, bleach and other necessities can drop them off at the event.
