RM1.1mil for charity, funds raised at Naza TTDI meet

IT was another fruitful yield at the ninth edition of Naza TTDI charity golf tournament at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) recently.

They netted a total of RM1.1mil with 120 participants comprising the company’s business partners, associates, contractors, suppliers as well as special guests chipping in towards the cause.

The group’s managing director SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin acknowledged the tremendous support from their various partners contributing to assist the event in their bid to create a caring society over the years.

“This year, the charity golf event was jointly hosted with Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin to provide financial assistance and ease the burden of the less fortunate.

“The foundation was formed in memory of the Naza Group founder late Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin in March this year. The aim is to continue the legacy to offer education scholarships, schooling assistance and donations to charitable organisations,” added SM Faliq, who is also the Naza TTDI Group of Companies deputy executive chairman.

Following the inception of the charity golf meet in 2003, they have collected a total of RM7.8mil thus far.

They have been channelling the proceeds to various charity organisations nationwide including those based in Sabah and Sarawak.

From this season’s fund raiser, they named six charity organisations as the beneficiaries of the annual initiative.

Among the recipients were Cancerlink Foundation, Yayasan Hepar Malaysia, The National Autism Society of Malaysia, Malaysian Aids Council, IJN Foundation and Badan Amal Lembah Pantai.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin presented the contributions allocated to representatives of the selected organisations.

Also present were Malacca Yang di-Pertua Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Naza TTDI chairman and Naza Group of Companies joint group executive chairman SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin and Naza Group of Companies joint group executive chairman Datuk SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin.

It was also a good outing for the 12-handicapper Mohd Khalil on the course finishing in 10th position with a respectable score of 35 points in the proper tournament.

In the tussle for the top spot, 17-handcapper M. Noor Azman Taib edged Embok Masek Md Taher on countback after both returned with identical scores of 37 points over 18 holes.

Although six competitors were levelled at 36 points, 20-handicapper Azrul Hashim came in third.

In the novelty sections, the six winners were Noor Azuwa Mohammad (fifth hole nearest to the pin), Mohd Rizal Md Yasin (15th hole nearest to the pin), Izmir Abd Hamid (first hole nearest to the line), Richard Wong (16th hole nearest to the line), Saharun Kasim (third hole longest drive) and Azrul Hashim (12th hole longest drive).

Besides novelty prizes, the hosts also gave away prizes through lucky draws.
